Toward the end of his life, Joshua asked the people of God an interesting question… “But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15. Why would the leader of God’s chosen people Israel give them three options? And more importantly, where is option #4, serve no one and nothing??? Joshua knew that all of humanity was created to serve and worship someone or something. The people needed to choose. You and I need to choose. And if we are going to worship and serve God alone, then we must destroy and throw away any gods/idols that exist.
